Farm Direct

We are so pleased and blessed to have a direct relationship with two wonderful coffee farms.

Near and dear to our heart, the San Lazaro farm in Honduras. Not only is the coffee stellar, the cause is great. Workers are paid fairly (better than fair trade), treated with respect and all profits benefit the Children’s refuge operated by Mission Lazarus. We visit the San Lazaro farm multiple times each year. We’ve picked, processed and learned first hand the hard work it takes to produce a great cup of coffee.

The Finca Philadelphia farm in Panama was introduced to us in December 2022. A micro farm run by David and Anne Suplee. After retiring and moving to Panama in 2017, they successfully rescued an overgrown and abandoned coffee farm and turned it into a beautiful, specialty grade coffee we are thrilled to share with you.

Specialty Grade

Specialty grade coffee is the prime pick of the entire coffee world. The top 3% of the global yield. Specialty coffee refers to coffee that has scored over 80 points on a 100 point scale by the SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association of America). Specialty coffees are markedly different from regular coffees in the sense that they are grown at higher elevations, are traceable and processed carefully once harvested. Every step is monitored and understood in order to improve quality.

Even in this exclusive group, Roasted Pearl will only use the best of the best. All of our beans are 87 points or higher with some in the 90’s.
